Asser Mbai

Asser Gabriel Mbai (born November 29, 1950 in Otjiwarongo , South West Africa ) is a Namibian politician , former party president of the National Unity Democratic Organization of Namibia (NUDO) and ex-professional footballer.

Life path

Mbai attended the Augustineum for school education . He holds a diploma in entrepreneurship (senior year 2002) and is a trained and certified auctioneer for livestock and real estate . He was then from 1972 to 1990 as a radio presenter for NBC . At the same time, Mbai was a professional footballer and manager for the African Stars . He was still closely associated with the club in the late 2010s.

Political career

In 1978 Mbai began to rise in party politics. He was political advisor to the NUDO President for 25 years. From 1992 to 2004 Mbai occupied various political positions in the Otjozondjupa region , including as a regional council member for Okakarara . From 2009 to 2014 he was vice-party president of NUDO. In July 2014 he rose to the office of NUDO President. He resigned from office after internal disputes in 2019 and also lost the mandate he had held in the National Assembly since 2005 .

Mbai ran as a candidate in the 2014 presidential election and came fourth with 1.88 percent of the vote.
