The National Unity Democratic Organization of Namibia (NUDO, also NUDO Party ; German Democratic Organization of National Unity ), formerly an organization with "z", is a political party in Namibia . It is considered the Herero ethnic party .
Like numerous smaller parties, the NUDO was originally part of the Democratic Gymnasium Alliance (DTA) before it became independent in 2003. In the first elections in 2004, in which it participated as an independent party, the NUDO won 4.1% of the vote and 3 seats in parliament, in its second election it had to accept losses.
The motto of NUDO is One People, One Aim, One Destiny (“One people, one goal, one destiny”).
The long-time chairman and chief of the Herero, Kuaima Riruako died on June 2nd, 2014. His successor was Asser Mbai on July 6th, 2014 . In 2019 Utjiua Muinjangue was elected party leader. She is the first woman to lead a Namibian party and the first female presidential candidate in the 2019 election .
