Assia Noris (1939)

Assia Noris (native Anastasia Herzfeld * February 13 . Jul / 26. February  1912 greg. In St. Petersburg , Russian Empire ; † 27. January 1998 in Sanremo , Liguria ) was an Italian actress of Russian origin.

Life

The daughter of a Russian guard officer of German origin and a Ukrainian woman came to France with her parents after the October Revolution and grew up in Nice , where she attended school. In 1929 she went to Italy and took acting lessons there. As the first of her five husbands, she married the Italian Gaetano d'Assia, from whose name she derived her screen pseudonym.

In 1932, producer Giuseppe Amato and director Mario Bonnard discovered her for the film. She became the star of the Telefoni Bianchi films through director Mario Camerini , under whose direction she played for the first time in 1933 in the mystery satirical Giallo . From the mid-1930s she was often seen in Camerini's comedies in the role of a naive young girl who dreams of love and a quiet life. Her film partners included Vittorio De Sica (e.g. Ma non è una cosa seria , 1936) and Amedeo Nazzari (e.g. Centomilla dollari , 1940). From 1940 to 1943 she was married to Camerini. Her outstanding achievements also include Mario Soldati's scandal over Dora (1939) and Renato Castellani's Un colpo di pistola (1942), in which she played the role of a mature woman, which is unusual for her.

The Italian neorealism of the post-war period practically meant the end of her film career, as neither her presentation style, which was considered outdated, nor her screen presence during the Mussolini era was not appreciated by the new Italian film industry and audience. Only in 1949 did she appear in the Egyptian film Amina , directed by the Italian Goffredo Alessandrini , and in 1964 she brought Carlo Lizzani again for the title role in La Celestina P ... R ... in front of the camera.
