The Stylenite (spelling: StyleNite ) is a cultural event by the Berlin designer Michael Michalsky . It emerged from the Michalsky fashion shows and takes place twice a year during Berlin Fashion Week. The event has been running under the title StyleNite since January 2010 .

The event breaks with the flow of a normal fashion show by combining performances from different art styles. The theme of inspiration for the respective collection by designer Michalsky serves as the framework for the event.

Event concept

Michalsky often deals with a current, social topic with his collections. The StyleNite takes up these topics. The Michalsky fashion shows are an integral part of StyleNite. Changing venues and backdrops form the framework for the further performances of the event. The program regularly includes live musical acts by known or newly discovered musicians, show performances, film screenings and fashion shows by other fashion companies. The evening ends with an after-show party. In March 2011 Michalsky announced that they would be holding the next four StyleNites in the Berlin Tempodrom .

  • January 20, 2012: The Franco-German television station Arte is documenting the Fall / Winter 2012 MICHALSKY StyleNite in a 90-minute broadcast. The documentary was moderated by Joachim Winterscheidt and broadcast on January 21, 2012 at 10 p.m. on ARTE
  • July 12, 2012: The electronic band Blitzkids mvt. causes a stir at StyleNite with its appearance.
  • January 2013: Shortly before the Stylenite in January 2013, the Warner Music Group announced the release of a "Stylenite Compilation" under the title "Broken Promises".
  • January 18, 2013: During the live performance of the singer Femme Schmidt , Michalsky presented the clothes he had designed for Disney for the new film The Wizard of Oz . The second live act was played by the Swedish pop band Icona Pop .

Stage design

For each StyleNite, Michalsky designs an individual set that interprets the theme of the evening. For example, at StyleNite The Great Depression Part II , you saw a crashed plane in a pool and thousands of stocks on stage.

Models

In addition to famous and already known models, new faces keep appearing at StyleNite. Michalsky also ignores the "traditional" requirements for models in terms of age, origin or flawlessness and lets models with disabilities on the catwalk at StyleNite , as well as older models. The involvement of the disabled model Mario Galla at the StyleNite in summer 2010 generated extensive media coverage. In January 2011, the models Eveline Hall and Pat Cleveland ran at StyleNite , both women are over 60 years old. The internationally known, German model Toni Garrn belongs to the regular line-up of StyleNite and has been running here for years.
