Nadja Michael (* 1969 in Wurzen ) is a German opera , lied and oratorio singer ( mezzo-soprano and soprano since April 2005 ).

Life

Nadja Michael grew up in Gerichshain . After first at the children's and youth sports school in Leipzig competitive swimmer should be, she later moved to a special school for music , which Rudolf-Hildebrand-Schule Markkleeberg . During this time she lived in the school's boarding school.

She has made international guest appearances at the Vienna State Opera , the Royal Opera House in London, the Milan Scala , the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the New National Theater in Tokyo and Carnegie Hall as well at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

Nadja Michael's repertoire mainly comprised the major roles of the French and Italian subjects, but also Kundry at the Frankfurt Opera and Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden .

Since switching from mezzo-soprano to soprano, she has sung roles such as Tosca , Lady Macbeth , Salome , Fidelio and Santuzza , and in spring 2007 Salome in Luc Bondy's production at La Scala in Milan.
