Asterios Argyriou

Asterios Argyriou ( Greek Αστέριος Αργυρίου ; * 1935 ) is a Greek theologian and Neo- Grecist and professor emeritus of modern Greek language and literature at the University of Strasbourg .

Life

Argyriou in 1963 with a thesis on the conception of the Koran from the History in the Department of Theology doctorate in 1967 with the Editio princeps a treatise of Anastasios Gordios about Mohammed and against the Latins in the Department of Lettres ( Philology ). In 1960 he founded the Institute for Neo-Greek Studies at the University of Strasbourg. He obtained the Doctorat d'État in the Lettres department in 1977 with an examination of the Greek exegesis of the Apocalypse of Johnduring the Turkocracy (1453-1821). His successor as director of the Département d'études néo-helléniques at the University of Strasbourg is Irini Tsamadou Jacoberger .

Argyriou works on Orthodox Christianity , also dealing with the Koran , as well as on modern Greek literature and culture. The spectrum of his work ranges from edition philology to theological monograph.
