Anastasia Danae Lazaridis

Anastasia Danae Lazaridis , also Lazaridou ( Greek Αναστασία Δανάη Λαζαρίδου) (* 1953 in Piraeus ; † February 20, 2017 in Geneva ) was a Greek neo-Graecist and since 1981 lecturer in modern Greek language and literature at the University of Geneva .

Life

After attending the Italian-Greek school in Athens from 1965 to 1971, Lazaridou initially studied philosophy, ancient Greek and the history of ancient religions at the University of Geneva from 1971 to 1976, and after acquiring the license from 1976 to 1978 there, modern Greek as a supplement to the license. After various activities, including those in the field of translation and interpreting, she was Chargée d'enseignement in the Unité de Grec moderne in the Département des langues et des littératures méditerranéennes, slaves et orientales of the University of Geneva from 1981. From 1997 to 2002 she also taught Modern Greek in the Master of Arts (troisième cycle) course at the Institut d'Études Supérieures en Théologie Orthodoxe in Chambésy . Since 2012, since the untimely death of Michel Lassithiotakis , she has been responsible for the scientific and administrative management of the Unité de Grec Moderne.

Work areas

Lazaridis' fields of work were modern Greek literature and history of the 19th and 20th centuries, especially the poets Solomos , Kalvos and Seferis , literary translation, phraseology and the didactics of modern Greek. Lazaridis was responsible for a series of translations of modern Greek literature at Editions Melchior, Geneva , and was president of the Swiss Society for Modern Greek Studies , founded in Geneva in 1996 and which has published the journal Psifides (Ψηφίδες) since 2000 . In 2013, together with Bertrand Bouvier , she edited a French-language manuscript in the library of Geneva in which the Greek scholar Iakovos Rhizos Nerulos , who was temporarily in Geneva, criticized the Charte Turque ou Organization religieuse, civile et militaire de l'Empire Ottoman of the Italian Alfio Grassi (1766–1827).
