Hildur, a no-good beauty at the side of the criminal car dealer Jolli, is forced to look for a job after his arrest. Since she is followed by the rainbow press and is also very untalented, this fails miserably.
She eventually found a job in "Astrópía", a shop selling role-playing games , DVDs and comics. The shop is only frequented by nerds and all employees live in their own little world. Her boss, who was himself a victim of public mockery when he published a LARP appearance on the Internet, feels sorry for the girl. In order to develop her sales skills, her employer lets her play a role in his round of role play. Hildur experiences exciting adventures in a previously unfamiliar world and also makes new friends. At the same time she gets closer to Dagur, a translator of romance novels . Meanwhile, her boyfriend is working feverishly on his outbreak.
Jolli finally manages to escape with twelve of his fellow inmates. He wants to break away and still needs the account details of his banks in the Cayman Islands . Since he has hidden this in a medallion from Hildur, he calls them and lures them to his cronies. When Dagur realizes this, it is too late. They kidnap Hildur and he chases the escapees. On the way he calls his friends for help. Together they immerse themselves in their role-playing world and can finally overwhelm the kidnappers. Hildur defeats her ex-boyfriend in a sword fight. When the fight is over, Hildur and Dagur kiss and the scene changes back to reality, a boat at the harbor with which the escapees wanted to escape. The prisoners are taken away by the police.

The film contains countless allusions to fantasy and science fiction films such as Star Wars , The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings . Other films such as The Condemned are also satirized. There are also numerous references to various role-playing systems such as World of Darkness and Dungeons and Dragons , tabletop systems and trading card games .
All the locations are on Iceland. The real model for the comic shop is the Nexus shop in Reykjavík , the only comic shop in Iceland. He also took care of the actors who were unfamiliar with role play. The screenwriter had worked there for years. The music was recorded in Bulgaria.
