Astrid Pellengahr (born May 28, 1967 in Heide ) is a German cultural scientist and folklorist . From 2014 to 2020 she was the head of the state office for non-state museums in Bavaria . In March 2020 she took over the management of the Württemberg State Museum .

Life

Astrid Pellengahr studied German and Comparative Folklore , Ethnology and Sociology at the University of Munich , where she completed her doctorate in 2000. Afterwards she headed the Stadtmuseum Kaufbeuren from 2002 , briefly interrupted in 2006 by the management of the German Hunting and Fishing Museum in Munich .

From 2009 to 2015 she was also a member of the advisory board of the history museums section of the German Museum Association .

In 2014 she moved to the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . From 2014 to 2020 she headed the state office for non-state museums in Bavaria and in this role looked after around 1,250 museums. Astrid Pellengahr also regularly held teaching positions at universities, most recently at the professorship for museology at the University of Würzburg . In addition, she is a member of numerous committees, boards of trustees and scientific advisory boards of museums and cultural institutions.
