Günter Dippold

Günter Dippold (born November 21, 1961 in Schney ) is a German historian and folklorist . Since 1994 he has been a district home nurse in the Bavarian district of Upper Franconia and in 2004 was appointed honorary professor for folklore / European ethnology at the University of Bamberg . He is the author and editor of monographs and essays on the history of Franconia . He mostly worked on local micro-studies. In 2014 he ran as the CSU candidate for the mayor's office in Lichtenfels , but could not win it.

Life

After graduating from the Meranier-Gymnasium in Lichtenfels in 1981 , Dippold studied history and folklore at the universities of Bamberg, Regensburg and Erlangen-Nuremberg between 1982 and 1987 . In Bamberg he received his doctorate in 1993 with a dissertation on the topic of denominationalization on the Upper Main .

From 1992 he was head of the German Basket Museum in Michelau in Upper Franconia . At the same time, the first local history writings about the Banz monastery , the local history of Mistelfeld and the building history of the town hall of Lichtenfels were produced.

In 1994 he was appointed head of the cultural and homeland maintenance department in the Upper Franconian district. In addition, from 1995 to 2002 he held a teaching position for historical auxiliary sciences at the University of Bayreuth . From 2000 to 2004 Dippold was a lecturer at the Chair of Folklore / European Ethnology at the University of Bamberg, where he was made an honorary professor in July 2004.

In addition to his work as a district homeworker, he is involved in a number of Upper Franconian history associations, since 1997 as 1st chairman of the Colloquium Historicum Wirsbergense and since 1998 as 1st chairman of the Association of Upper Franconian Museums and Collections. He has been a member of the board of the Bavarian State Association for Homeland Care since 2004 and has been a member of the Presidium of the Federal Homeland and Environment in Germany (BHU) since 2017 .

Since 2016 the regional television broadcaster TV Oberfranken has been broadcasting the series “Ein Fall für Dippold”. In each of these programs he explains a selected historical monument in Upper Franconia.

Awards

  • In 2007, Dippold was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for his services to historical research and cultural maintenance in Upper Franconia and Bavaria .
  • In 2010 he received the Franconian cube .
