Founder Wilhelm Stoess

The Stoess GmbH is a German jewelry store with jewelry factory owned by the family, based in Wiesbaden , Hesse . The company is known under the name Atelier Stoess.

history

In 1886 Wilhelm Stoess founded the manufacture in Berlin . As a trained goldsmith , who had trained in Paris for 10 years , he built up his trade on Friedrichstrasse near Unter den Linden . He designed and manufactured the jewelry by hand. The Russian Tsar Nicholas II was one of his customers . In addition, he traveled with his collection to European casinos and casinos to offer his treasures to winning players on site.

In 1928 his son Walter Stoess took over the business. In the Second World War , however, the company was closed because Walter Stoess refused to join the National Socialist Party. The family fled south with few belongings. In Wiesbaden, Walter Stoess reopened the shop at Wilhelmstrasse 34, the former Hotel "Bristol". Customers with high purchasing power were almost exclusively US soldiers. They mainly purchased engagement and wedding rings.

In 1962, Wolfgang Stoess took over the business in the third generation. He cultivated worldwide trade relations and expanded them. His son Wolfgang A. Stoess took over the company in 2002. After graduating from high school, he attended the Hanau drawing academy and, like his forefathers, completed an apprenticeship in goldsmithing. He then studied business administration with a focus on marketing at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences . He also obtained a diploma in jewelry design from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in New York City . Despite the financial crisis from 2007 onwards, business remained stable. Gold jewelry with high-quality gemstones such as diamonds in particular continued to be in demand with customers. In 2015, the original Wilhelm Stoess OHG was renamed Stoess GmbH.

Products

Stoess GmbH produces unique jewelry. Designers create new pieces of jewelry according to customer requirements. Goldsmiths use the drawings to create these by hand using a traditional file, saw, drill and hammer. If desired, old pieces of jewelery can also be formed into new creations by removing the gemstones and remelting the gold.

In addition, the manufactory has a number of its own collections. These include rings and necklaces for women as well as bracelets and earrings . Atelier Stoess makes cufflinks for men .

The manufactory produces exclusively with 18- carat gold or 950 platinum. The diamond refers the company of certified distributors whose diamonds among others by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) are checked. Customers receive a certificate for their jewelry, which proves the value.

In addition, Stoess GmbH sells branded jewelry from Pomellato, Wellendorff , Chopard and DoDo. In addition to jewelry, watches are also available for purchase. Stoess GmbH is the official specialist dealer of the Swiss brands Rolex , Breguet , Jaeger-LeCoultre and Chopard . The company also purchases watches from the German manufacturer Nomos Glashütte and the French brand Cartier .

Others

Stoess GmbH has been supporting the Bärenherz children's hospice in Wiesbaden since 2012 . When buying one of the pieces of jewelery from the Bärenherz collection, part of the purchase price goes to the hospice . The distinguishing feature of the collection is a small bear with an engraved heart in each piece of jewelry.
