Founder Ernst Alexander Wellendorff

The Wellendorff gold creations GmbH & Co. KG is a German Schmuckmanufaktur family owned with headquarters in Pforzheim in Baden-Wuerttemberg . The golden Wellendorff cord and the colored, rotating rings are now considered classics of the brand. According to a study by Manager Magazin carried out every two years , Wellendorff was selected among the top ten of all German luxury brands and was also named the best German jewelry manufacturer.

history

The manufacture was founded in Pforzheim in 1893 by Ernst Alexander Wellendorff. There Wellendorff had attended the Grand Ducal School of Applied Arts and Technical College for the Metal Industry and received a diploma with distinction. The proximity to the internationally important spa town of Baden-Baden also promoted the quickly emerging success of the independent designer and goldsmith . He soon became known in the Russian Empire and Great Britain .

His son Alex Wellendorff took care of the reconstruction of the manufacture after its destruction in the Second World War .

Wellendorff - Princesse necklace

In 1960 Hanspeter Wellendorff, Alex's son and grandson of Ernst Alexander Wellendorff, joined the company as managing director. His decision to establish the manufactory as a brand led, among other things, to the development of the brilliant “W” as a trademark and the creation of the silky-soft Wellendorff cord.

Today the company is managed in the third and fourth generation by Hanspeter Wellendorff and his sons Christoph and Georg.

Products

In 1977 the classic Wellendorff cord was introduced, which has been manufactured almost unchanged to this day. For the cord of a necklace , a goldsmith needs a wafer-thin 18-carat gold wire about 160 meters long, from which a necklace is woven by hand in many steps.

Since 1993, the manufactory has also been making jewelry with cold enamel . The cold enamel used is impact-resistant and particularly durable compared to conventional enamel. Characteristic of the rings is the sheen of colored Wellendorff cold enamel, which is inserted between the engraved pattern and ornaments on several levels.

In 1997 the first annual ring "Hong Kong" established a company tradition on the occasion of the handover of the British Crown Colony to the People's Republic of China . Since then, Wellendorff has presented a limited annual ring every year in which a theme or event is implemented in the form of a ring.

The manufactory produces exclusively with 18- carat gold using precious stones and cold enamel.
