Atilla Birlik (born November 27, 1977 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a Turkish football player .

Career

In his youth, Birlik played at Ludwigshafener SC and from 1993 at SV Waldhof Mannheim . In 1996 he advanced to the final of the German A-Youth Championship with SV Waldhof's A-youth team, but lost to Borussia Dortmund with 2-0 goals.

His second division debut on May 26, 1997 lasted only a few minutes. In the derby against 1. FC Kaiserslautern he saw the red card after a foul on Martin Wagner and subsequent assault against Gerry Ehrmann (67th minute). In the 64th minute of the game he was substituted on by coach Uwe Rapolder .

This game was his only one in the 2nd Bundesliga for Waldhof Mannheim. After the SVW's relegation in 1997, he remained loyal to the club and scored 11 goals in 62 regional league games by 1999.

For the 1999/2000 season he moved to the Turkish Süper Lig to Beşiktaş Istanbul . There he was only a supplementary player and went to Antalyaspor in 2000 , where he proved his scoring skills. In 2002/03 he tried to assert himself in German professional football. He moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth (2nd division) and scored two goals in 23 games.

He then went back to Turkey and played there from 2003 to 2009 for five different clubs in the first, second and third Turkish leagues.

With Beşiktaş he played twice in the Champions League , with Antalyaspor twice in the UEFA Cup .
