Aubrey Simons
Aubrey Simons (* 1921 - May 14, 2014 in Bristol ) was an English table tennis player who took part in eight world championships and won six medals. In 1953 he was a member of the English world championship team.
successes
From 1948 to 1955, Aubrey Simons took part in eight world championships . In 1953 he became world champion with the English team. He was then ranked fourth in the ITTF world rankings .
A year earlier, in 1952 , he was already in the team final, which was lost to Hungary. There are also three bronze medals with the team, namely in 1949 , 1950 and 1954 . With the Scot Helen Elliot he was second in mixed in 1955 .
At the European Championships in 1964 , he reached the quarter-finals in doubles.
Aubrey Simons has been called up to the national team 164 times.
Private
In June 1952, Aubrey Simons, the son of a butcher, married Jeanne KMProwse. In addition to table tennis, he also played cricket , golf and snooker . He worked for a sporting goods manufacturer.
