The iris aucheri ( Iris aucheri ) is a plant of the genus Iris ( Iris ) within the family of the Iridaceae (Iridaceae).
features
The Aucher iris is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 15 to 40 centimeters. This geophyte forms tubers, which are often incorrectly called "onions", as persistence organs. The lower leaves at the base are up to 4.3 centimeters wide.
The three to six flowers have a diameter of 6 to 7 centimeters. They are usually pale blue in color, but can also be purple or white. The nail of the hanging leaves is 2.0 to 2.2 centimeters wide.
The flowering period extends from March to April.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
Occurrence
The Aucher Iris occurs in southeast Turkey, northern Iraq, northwest Syria, Jordan and northwest Iran at altitudes of 550 to 2100 meters.
use
The Aucher iris is rarely used as an ornamental plant in alpine houses. In areas with a wine-growing climate , it can also be cultivated outdoors.
