Audnedal was a municipality in the Vest-Agder province in Norway . Its administrative seat was in Konsmo. It bordered Åseral to the north, Aust-Agder and Marnardal to the east, Lindesnes to the south and Lyngdal and Hægebostad to the west . As part of the local government reform in Norway , Audnedal was merged with Lyngdal on January 1, 2020.

The municipality of Audnedal was established in 1964 by merging Grindheim, Konsmo part of the municipality of Bjelland. 1780 inhabitants lived on an area of ​​254 km² (as of January 1, 2019). The municipality number was 1027. The last mayor was Reidun Bakken ( KrF ).

The eponymous river Audna , which offers good fishing for salmon and sea ​​trout , flowed through the municipality of Ytre Øydnevatn in a north-south direction, to flow into the sea at Vigeland in the municipality of Lindesnes. Reichsstrasse 460 ran along the river valley.

The Sørlandsbanen line crossed the municipality, and long-distance trains stop at Audnedal station. To the west of the station, the route runs through the Hægebostadtunnel, one of the longest railway tunnels in Norway.
