Auerswald (noble family)
Auerswald is the name of an old Meissen aristocratic family with the parent house of the same name Auerswalde near Chemnitz (today part of Lichtenau , district of central Saxony ).
history
The family is first mentioned in a document on January 21, 1263 with Otto de Urswalde . The direct family line begins with Fabian von Auerswald , landlord of Auerswald and councilor of the Electoral Saxony , whose grandsons Bernhard , knight of the Teutonic Order , and Fabian von Auerswald (1462 – after 1540; see list) come to Prussia around 1500 .
Fabian von Auerswald's eldest son, Hans Kaspar , married to a von Amsdorf, was the progenitor of the older Saxon line of the family, which went out around 1750 with the superintendent Hans Christoph Caesar von Auerswald and his brothers. Fabian's youngest son Jacob left 12 sons and 10 daughters. Of these, Christoph Cäsar (* 1498), the progenitor of the younger Saxon line, which went out with his great-grandson Ernst von Auerswald .
Fabian von Auerswald himself was the progenitor of the Prussian line. His two grandchildren Hans († 1608) and Georg founded the Plauth and Tromanu line.
