The aurochs is a heraldic symbol in the heraldry and as a common figure is not always the bull to distinguish.

The animal, long extinct, is also called Ur .

The representation is possible as a whole heraldic figure or as a looking head in the heraldic shield . The heraldist describes the head representation as en face . With her a nose ring is used as an ornament. The torn neck fur, which is common in the bull's head, is also missing.

As a whole animal, it is walking to the right (heraldically) or standing with the main line of sight towards there. The color scheme is very different, but black is preferred. The reinforcement can be colored differently, i.e. horns, hooves and tongue.

Examples

In the Swiss coat of arms of the canton of Uri , it is a speaking figure and known since the 13th century, but sometimes with and sometimes without a nose ring.
