history
Wolfgang Denzel GmbH
Augsburg Air Service was founded in 1972 as Wolfgang Denzel GmbH and started with around 15 employees. The new shipyard hall was inaugurated in 1977. The company was initially specialized in the maintenance and repair of aircraft for the American Beechcraft Corporation . Over the years, aircraft types from other manufacturers were added.
Beechcraft Sales and Service GmbH
In 1985 the civil engineer Hans Schneider (* September 10th, 1930 † October 7th, 2013) took over the aircraft yard and renamed it Beechcraft Vertrieb und Service GmbH (short form: Beechcraft Augsburg). In the following years, the company grew to almost 100 employees under the management of Managing Director Hans Obermeier. In the meantime a branch was opened in Baden-Baden (1999-2004) and the airline Augusta Air was founded as a sister company.
Until 2008, the company was the exclusive dealer for Hawker Beechcraft aircraft for Germany , Austria , the Netherlands and all areas of the former Yugoslavia . In 2000, for reasons of expansion, another small hall was purchased and rebuilt at Augsburg Airport. In 2004, Augsburg Airways rented and a little later bought the former hangar, which today serves as the main hangar.
Augsburg Air Service GmbH
Since May 2014, the company has been an independent subsidiary of Atlas Air Service AG (headquarters in Ganderkesee). Since April 1st, 2015 it has been operating under the name Augsburg Air Service GmbH.
