Wolfgang Denzel
Wolfgang Denzel (born January 11, 1908 in Graz , † April 15, 1990 in Berg am Starnberger See ) was an Austrian racing athlete, designer and entrepreneur .
Life
He designed his first motorcycle while studying technology. Between 1937 and 1977 he was a sales representative or general importer for BMW AG in Styria / Carinthia and throughout Austria . After the war he took on the same position for Facel-Véga , Lancia , Volvo , Mitsubishi Motors , Hyundai and others.
During his life, Denzel achieved around 300 victories as a racing enthusiast , with motorcycles and racing cars in motor sports, skiing and, most recently, deep-sea sailing . A large number of their own designs (sports cars "WD" and "Denzel"; racing yachts ) were used.
Numerous technical developments in engine construction and automobile construction also originate from Wolfgang Denzel. In addition to his sports car manufacture in Vienna-Mariahilf (1948–1960), he played a key role in the design and construction of the prototypes for the BMW 700 .
The development center of Wolfgang Denzel AG has existed since the 1970s . Today the corporation is the owner of its technical patents and licensor for important automobile manufacturers. In the 2000s, Denzel AG also became a provider of other mobility services, such as car sharing .
