The August-Bebel-Allee is a street in Bremen , districts Vahr , district Neue Vahr Nord and something in the district Radio Bremen. It leads in a west-east direction from Bürgermeister-Spitta-Allee to Paul-Singer-Straße.

The cross streets and connecting streets were mostly named after important social democrats u. a. as Bürgermeister-Spitta-Allee after the politician ( DDP , BDV and FDP ), mayor and senator in Bremen Theodor Spitta (1873-1969), Wilhelm-Liebknecht- Strasse after one of the founding fathers of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), Philipp Scheidemann -Straße after the politician (SPD) and Reichsministerpräsident (1919), Otto-Braun -Straße after the politician (SPD) and Prime Minister of Prussia (1920-1921, 1921-1925, 1925-1932), Karl-Kautsky -Straße after the Philosopher and politician (SPD, USPD ), Friedrich-Stampfer- Strasse after the journalist and politician (SPD) and Paul-Singer- Strasse after the co-founder and chairman of the SPD and member of the Reichstag ; otherwise see the link to the streets.

August Bebel (1840–1913) was one of the founders of German social democracy and is still considered one of its outstanding historical personalities to this day. From 1867 to 1881 and 1883 until his death, Bebel was a member of the Reichstag of the North German Confederation and the Empire, and from 1892 to 1913 chairman of the SPD. On November 11, 1958, the Senate decided to name the street after him.

The Vahr (1167 Vare , later Voren ; Fuhren = furrow) is a very young district of Bremen, in which from 1954 to 1964 around 14,000 u. a. Socially subsidized apartments were built in the large housing estate for over 33,000 residents. Neue Heimat was the client for many apartments . In 1964 the Holy Spirit Church was consecrated. At the beginning of the street, the IBM high- rise office was built until 1975 , which is now used by the Zech Group's holding company . In the eastern part of this street (Neue Vahr Nord) currently live around 8,000 inhabitants.

In transport in Bremen , the bus drives through 24 (Rablinghausen ↔ New Vahr-Nord) the road.

  • Couples (sculpture) on the center island of the roundabout at the eastern end of August-Bebel-Allee from 2002 made of steel by the sculptor Hans-J. Müller . Man and woman opposite symbolize conversation and togetherness in the Vahr.
