August David Martin

David August Martin (* 1764 in Hanover ; † April 4, 1829 ) was Hanoverian major general , most recently chief of the 6th Infantry Regiment and adjutant general of Hanover.

He joined the engineering corps as a volunteer in 1780 and in 1781 became an ensign in the 15th Infantry Regiment, which was shipped to the East Indies . On August 7, 1784, he became the Seconde Lieutenant transported and after his return on March 11, 1794 Captain in the 4th Infantry Regiment. After the French invasion and the Artlenburg Convention in 1803, he went to the King's German Legion , where he became a major in the 1st Line Battalion on January 17, 1805 . On January 26, 1711 he became a lieutenant colonel in the 2nd line battalion and then in 1814 a colonel . After taking over the Legion in the Hanoverian Army , he became Major General on March 15, 1817. He died on April 4, 1829 as chief of the 6th Infantry Regiment and adjutant general of Hanover.

He was holder of the Russian Order of St. Vladimir 4th class and the Guelph Order 2nd class.
