August E. Hohler

August E. Hohler (born August 31, 1925 in St. Gallen ; † May 5, 2002 in Zurich ) was a Swiss psychotherapist , journalist and writer .

Life

August E. Hohler graduated from high school after an apprenticeship as a businessman . Then he completed a degree in German language and literature at the University of Zurich . He received his doctorate in 1954 with a thesis on the sacred in poetry .

He worked as a political editor for the Zürcher Tages-Anzeiger , in 1968/69 as editor-in-chief of Weltwoche , and finally for the Basler National-Zeitung . At Swiss television , he directed the discussion program Forum . He made numerous contributions for the Swiss radio DRS , for example for the program Zum neue Tag .

After further psychological studies in Switzerland and California, he opened a psychological counseling practice in Basel in 1981 . With his radio broadcasts, lectures and books, he made a name for himself as a social critic, especially in Switzerland .

He found his final resting place in the Sihlfeld cemetery .
