Oskar Reck
Oskar Reck (born September 29, 1920 in Niederlenz ; † October 11, 1996 in Basel ) was a Swiss journalist and publicist .
biography
After studying economics and law, Reck started his journalistic career as a foreign reporter for Weltwoche . He became editor-in-chief of the Amriswiler Anzeiger, which appears four times a week . He then took over the editorial management of the Neue Winterthurer Tagblatt and from 1960 to 1970 of the Thurgauer Zeitung . The Basler Nachrichten he led then until its merger with National-Zeitung to the Basler Zeitung 1977. Under the pseudonym "Ritter Schorsch" wrote he also for the Nebelspaltersatirical texts. For years he wrote a column for Weltwoche, including a text with the title “Blocher - a giant dwarf”.
Reck was also socially and politically involved: from 1953 to 1955 and from 1962 to 1971 he was a member of the Thurgau Grand Council for the Liberal Democratic Party . To this end, he led the New Helvetic Society as central president . He was also a lecturer in media history in Basel, Bern and Freiburg .
From 1979 Oskar Reck was President of the Complaints Commission for Radio and Television (Commission Reck), from 1984 to 1988 of its successor, the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI). In 1985 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Basel .
Oskar Reck's first marriage was to Renée Sommerhalder. The couple had five children. After the early death of his wife in 1970, Oskar Reck married the journalist Daisy Strasser in Basel.
