August Ferdinand Haeser

August Ferdinand Häser (born October 15, 1779 in Leipzig , † November 18, 1844 in Weimar ) was a German teacher , cantor , conductor and composer .

Life

Häser was born in 1779 as the son of Johann Georg Häser (1729–1809). As a pupil he attended the Nikolaischule and St. Thomas School in Leipzig . In 1802 he worked as a cantor. In 1806 and 1813 he lived in Italy . From 1817 he was choirmaster of the Weimar Court Theater . From 1829 he was music director of the Herder Church in Weimar. He wrote various requiems and operas.

Several of his brothers and his sister Charlotte Henriette Häser (1784–1871) became musicians like his father or turned to acting; his son Heinrich Haeser (1811–1885) became a doctor.
