August Fricke (politician)

August Fricke (born November 7, 1880 in Segeste ; † July 29, 1965 ) was a Hessian educator and politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

August Fricke attended elementary school and the teacher training college in Alsfeld (Leine) and studied from 1904 to 1909 at the universities in Paris, Munich, Berlin and Göttingen. From 1900 to 1904 he worked as a primary school teacher in Einbeck and from 1910 to 1912 as a seminar teacher in Lüdenscheid. In 1912 he became a teacher, then a senior teacher and senior director in Kassel. In 1927 he became head of the Realgymnasium II in Kassel. In the era of National Socialism in 1933 released, he worked as an insurance agent.

Since 1920 Fricke was a member of the SPD. Until 1933 he was chairman of the working group of social democratic teachers. Since the first free local elections in Hesse in 1946 , he was a city councilor in Kassel from May 26, 1946 to August 9, 1946. In 1945 he became head of the school department in Kassel and from January 10, 1946 to August 15, 1954, was a full-time city school councilor.

From July 15, 1946 to November 30, 1946 he was a member of the State Assembly of Greater Hesse, which advised the constitution, and from October 11, 1949 to November 30, 1950, a member of the Hessian State Parliament.

Fricke was a board member of the Republican Teachers' Union, a member of the World Reconciliation Union, and from 1920 to 1930 second chairman of the Kassel Peace Society. He was a member of the Religious Society of Friends ( Quakers ) and until 1942 editor of the monthly journal of this society.
