August Jording
August Jording (born June 24, 1853 in Cologne , † March 22, 1919 in Detmold ) was a German architect and construction clerk . As a city architect, he designed various buildings that defined the cityscape in the initially independent city of Ruhrort , which in 1905 became a district of Duisburg .
After various activities, Jording worked as an architect in the Reich Post and Telegraph Administration and was involved in the construction of several post offices, for example in Ruhrort , Barmen and Jülich . On September 1, 1884 he was appointed city architect in Ruhrort, and in 1893 he was given the title of city building officer.
Some school buildings were also erected under his direction, for example in the Beeck and Laar districts . On September 1, 1914, Jording retired and moved with his wife to Detmold , where he died almost five years later. He was buried in the Ruhrort cemetery. Today Jordingstraße in the southeast of Ruhrort is named after the architect.
