August Ludwig von Schierstaedt

August Wilhelm Ludwig von Schierstedt (born September 25, 1746 in Magdeburg , † November 8, 1831 in Dahlen) was a Prussian major general , chief of infantry regiment No. 33 and heir of Dahlen near Ziesar.

Life

origin

He was the son of the Prussian captain a. D. Ludolf Gustav von Schierstedt (* 1719) and his wife Johanna Sophie, born von Meyern (1713–1780).

Military career

Schierstedt joined the cadet corps in Berlin in 1756 . In 1760 he was accepted into the "Margrave Karl" regiment and took part in the last campaigns of the Seven Years' War . He became adjutant to the Duke of Braunschweig and came to the courts of Braunschweig and Weimar , where he met the local princes. He cherished the memory of this well into old age.

In the War of the Bavarian Succession he was wounded in the foot, after which he fought in Poland in 1794/95 . When Friedrich Wilhelm II took office in 1786, he had already received the order Pour le Mérite . On September 23, 1804, Schierstedt became chief of the 33rd Infantry Regiment. Due to illness, he took off on December 15, 1804 and went to his estates. On December 28, 1819, he was granted a pension of 1000 thalers.

Schierstedt was married to Friederike Wilhelmine Henriette Fink von Finckenstein (born November 14, 1752 † December 23, 1830) since 1780. She was the daughter of Minister Karl Wilhelm von Finckenstein . The couple had several children including:
