August Riedesel Freiherr zu Eisenbach (born June 13, 1779 in Braunschweig ; † June 27, 1843 at Stockhausen Castle ) from the Riedesel family was Hereditary Marshal of the Hessian Landgraves and President of the constituent state parliament in Kurhessen in 1830.

Life

August Riedesel was the second son of Johann Conrad Riedesel zu Eisenbach (1742–1812) and his wife Luise Charlotte nee. von Heyden-Hompesch (1755–1804). He had two brothers: Carl Philipp (1775-1853) and Albert Friedrich Carl (1784-1830). He himself married Anna Elisabeth Edle and Freiin von Plotho . The second son from this marriage, Albrecht , became a German officer and visual artist.

August Riedesel zu Eisenbach was chamberlain to the Grand Dukes Ludwig IV and Ernst Ludwig of Hessen-Darmstadt .

The constitution of the Grand Duchy of Hesse guaranteed the senior of the House of Riedesel a seat in the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . August renounced this mandate in favor of his cousin Jeanot .

After the death of Hereditary Marshal Ludwig Riedesel zu Eisenbach from the Ludwigseck branch of the Riedesel family in 1825, as the senior of the Riedesel family, he became Hereditary Marshal. He belonged to the constituent state parliament of the Electorate of Hesse in 1830 and was its president. From 1831 to 1843 he was a member of the Estates Assembly.
