August Seebeck
Ludwig Friedrich Wilhelm August Seebeck (born December 27, 1805 in Jena , † March 19, 1849 in Dresden ) was a German physicist .
Life
Seebeck was the son of the physicist Thomas Seebeck . From 1824 he studied mathematics and physics in Berlin, after completing his dissertation he took on a teaching position at various Berlin high schools and in 1843 was appointed director of the Dresden Technical College, founded in 1828 (the predecessor of today's Technical University ). In 1845 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences . In 1846, the year it was founded, he became a full member of the Royal Saxon Society of Sciences .
He died of smallpox. His work dealt with optical and acoustic problems.
