August Sigismund Schultze

August Sigismund Schultze (born April 28, 1833 in Greifswald , † November 1, 1918 in Strasbourg ) was a German lawyer and professor at the University of Strasbourg .

Live and act

Schultze came from a family of scholars. His father Karl August Sigismund Schultze and his brothers Bernhard Sigmund Schultze and Max Johann Sigismund Schultze were physicians and university lecturers. Nothing is known about Schultze's time as a student. He began his professional career as a judge. In 1872 he received a call to the University of Strasbourg , which he followed. Schultze's well-known students include Friedrich Lent and the civil lawyer Wilhelm Kisch .

Schultze's writings primarily contain the scientific discourse on civil procedural law . For example, he researched the secondary intervention and the law of evidence in civil proceedings as well as the interrelationships between substantive law and procedural law. In further academic work, Schultze dealt with questions of bankruptcy law and with questions of criminal and international law .

On his 70th birthday, Schultze was honored with a festschrift.
