August Theodor Kirsch senior

August Theodor Kirsch (senior) (born June 2, 1862 in Vienna ; † February 17, 1931 there ) was an Austrian newspaper publisher.

Life

Even while studying law at the University of Vienna (1881–85), Kirsch worked for his uncle F. Hummel in the newspaper Neuigkeits-Welt-Blatt, which he founded in 1874 . After Hummel's death (1888), Kirsch senior became the owner and editor of the paper - from 1908 Kirsch's publishing house also published the Wiener Illustrierte Wochenschau . Kirsch was a friend of the Christian social politician Leopold Kunschaks . The press products brought out by Kirsch were characterized by a Catholic tendency. Kirsch acted as Vice President of the Central Association of Newspaper Companies in Austria. He was the father of August Theodor Kirsch junior .

Since 1899 he was an honorary member of the Catholic student association KÖStV Rudolfina Vienna .
