August von Meyern-Hohenberg , complete August Wilhelm Friedrich Carl Ferdinand von Meyern [-Hohenberg] (born November 18, 1771 in Holzminden , † February 21, 1845 in Potsdam ) was a German officer and diplomat in the services of Brunswick and Coburg, most recently major general .

Life

Von Meyern came from the originally Vogtland noble family von Meyern . He was the eighth child (of eleven) from the second marriage of Johann Gottlob von Meyern to Christina Wilhelmina Johanne, geb. von Schauroth (1741–1800). From his first marriage to Regina Sophie Eleonora, geb. Segnitz von Schmalfelden (1721–1757) eight children. Duke August Wilhelm was his godfather.

He attended high school in Holzminden and in 1787 joined the Brunswick Army of the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel as an ensign . In 1804 he was a captain in Braunschweig and later a colonel when the army was reorganized after the Braunschweig French era .

He acquired the Hohenberg, Krusemark (now Hohenberg-Krusemark ) and Germerslage (now Iden district ) goods . On March 10, 1817, he received royal Prussian permission for himself and his descendants through the highest cabinet order to use the Hohenberg property name as an official part of the name.

From 1829 to 1831 he was the Brunswick envoy to the Prussian court in Berlin.

At an unknown point in time he was appointed major general à la suite in Saxony-Coburg-Gotha.

From his marriage to Auguste Countess von Görtz-Wrisberg , the aunt of Hermann von Görtz-Wrisberg , he had a daughter and heir, Pauline Karoline (1820–1899). She married Friedrich Graf von der Schulenburg - Altenhausen in 1844 and founded the Hohenberg and Krusemark family fideikommiss . In addition to their own descendants, possible beneficiaries included the descendants of their father's full brothers. Therefore, they also took the name of Meyern-Hohenberg .
