The Auob is the westernmost of the three distinctive rivers of the Namibian Kalahari . Among other things, the villages of Stampriet and Gochas lie on it .

The river has its source a good 150 kilometers southeast of Windhoek and has a very straight course in a southeastern direction. About 70 kilometers before it meets the border, the most important tributary of the leinks flows, the Olifants .
