Nossob between Botswana and South Africa

The Nossob ( khoekhoegowab ǂnuse ǃab ) is a rivier in the Kalahari , in southeastern Namibia , in southwest Botswana and in northwest South Africa . It extends over a length of 740 kilometers and lasted in 1989.

The Nossob rises as a white nossob ( Afrikaans Wit Nossob ; English White Nossob ) not far east of the Namibian capital Windhoek ( 22 ° 29 ′ 13.4 ″  S , 17 ° 12 ′ 26.4 ″  E ). North of Leonardville it flows together with the Black Nossob (Afrikaans Swart Nossob ) ( 23 ° 7 ′ 15 ″  S , 18 ° 42 ′ 2.3 ″  E ), which rises east of Okahandja ( 22 ° 0 ′ 52.8 ″  S , 17 ° 28 ′ 55.2 ″  E ).

The White Nossob is dammed near Otjivero in the Otjivero main dam and in the Otjivero secondary dam.

At the former "Unions End" border crossing , the Nossob leaves Namibia and forms the border between Botswana and South Africa in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park .

About 50 kilometers south of Twee Rivieren the Nossob flows into the Molopo ( 26 ° 54 ′ 13.7 ″  S , 20 ° 41 ′ 15 ″  E ), which in turn flows into the Oranje .
