The women's singles at the 1936 Australian Championships was a tennis competition in Adelaide .

Last year's winner was Dorothy Round . Joan Hartigan won the final against Nancye Wynne 6-4 and 6-4 . For Hartigan it was the third title at the Australian Championships after 1933 and 1934 .
