Automobile Museum Dresden

The Automobile Museum Dresden from 2003 to 2005 exhibition of historical cars with a focus on vehicles the manufacturer IFA from the GDR . The permanent exhibition in the museum ran under the name KraftfahrZeugen Ostmobil in the Neustädter Markthalle in Dresden .

Exhibits

With the exhibition of the IFA vehicles, the museum contributed to the preservation of East German technical history from the 1950s to the 90s. It comprised more than 120 exhibits, including four unique pieces . Around 40 cars, mainly from Saxony and Thuringia , were shown in the exhibition, including several Trabant vehicles , for example a model from the GDR's Deutsche Post . Among the special items also included a convertible of the IFA F9 from the body shop Dresden (formerly glasses.) , A F9 combination , a P-60 - Pick-up and a Wartburg Trans .

In addition, around 50 two-wheelers were exhibited, including various models from the bird series and the manufacturers AWO and MZ . In addition, there was a Klappfix , caravans, other trailers and even IFA prams and bicycles in the exhibition, which was supplemented by a historical picture show, which contained evidence of the division of Germany , the history of the inner German border and everyday street life in the GDR.

The exhibition rooms were opened on May 23, 2003 on the upper floor of the Neustädter Markthalle , which is located on the main street in the Innere Neustadt district . The exhibition area was 1,100 square meters. In 2005 the rental contract was terminated. In September 2005, the museum had to move out of the Neustädter Markthalle after a good two years. In 2006 it was reopened as part of the GDR Museum Zeitreise in Radebeul . After this museum was closed, these vehicles came to the new exhibition in the Dresden skyscraper on Albertplatz in January 2017 or, if they were not taken into account, were taken to a depot for the exhibition.
