Location

The small museum was housed in the environmental center of Dresden on Schützengasse in the Wilsdruffer Vorstadt district in the vicinity of the KraftWerk - Dresden Energy Museum and the state art museums in the Zwinger .

collection

The members of the association "Fahrrad-Veteranen-Freunde Dresden 1990 e. V. ”collected more than 150 bicycles that could be exhibited and that were presented at various exhibitions. There was a small private permanent exhibition in the Dresden Environment Center. Since 1991 there has been a special exhibition lasting several days in the stable yard . In addition to bicycles, the collection also included auxiliary engines and other accessories, as well as advertising material and literature. Among other things, the company history of various bicycle manufacturers was researched and documented in the sponsoring association .

history

On March 23, 1990, the “ AG Fahrradgeschichte” was founded in the Putjatinhaus in Kleinzschachwitz as part of the “ IG Radverkehr” established three years earlier in the Kulturbund der GDR , the forerunner of the ADFC local group in Dresden. In the same year she set up an exhibition room in the environmental center in Dresden. On April 20, 1996, the members of the AG founded the association “Fahrrad-Veteranen-Freunde Dresden 1990 e. V. ”, which two years later moved into a new exhibition gallery in the environmental center. After it was badly affected by the Elbe flood in 2002 , it was dissolved. The room has been used as a club meeting place since August 2003.
