The Auxence is a river in France that runs in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region . It rises in the municipality of Sognolles-en-Montois , initially drains to the west and then curves in an easterly direction before finally aligning itself to the southwest. At Vimpelles it reaches a dead oxbow lake of the Seine, and flows under its name Vieille Seine after a total of 34 kilometers in the municipality of Marolles-sur-Seine as a right tributary into the Seine .
