The Avia BH-1 was a Czechoslovak sport aircraft from 1920. It was the first model of the aircraft construction company Avia Akciová Společnost Pro Průmysl Letecký, founded in 1919, and at the same time the development team Beneš / Hajn. Three different versions were created.
development
The first model was the single-seat BH-1 Exprevit , which flew for the first time in 1920. It was designed as a single - engine low- wing aircraft made of wood with two struts on each side, which supported the wings on the fuselage. The span was 10.08 m, the length 5.86 m. A motorcycle engine with 22 kW (30 hp) from Daimler served as the drive. It was presented to the public at the Prague Air Show that same year.
Also in 1920 the BH-1 was created with a modified tail unit, whereby the rudder was omitted. Both types remained experimental models.
The last to appear was the slightly shorter BH-1bis . It was designed for two pilots and was powered by a Gnôme-Omega engine. In 1921 she drew attention to herself with various show flies.
With the BH-1, Beneš and Hajn founded their series of modern monoplane, which caused quite a stir and ended with the BH-16 from 1924. Aerobatics began with their planes in the ČSR.
