The Czechoslovak Avia BH-5 was a single-engine sport aircraft from the early 1920s. Only one copy was made.
history
The construction team Pavel Beneš and Miroslav Hajn developed the single-seater based on their BH-1 from 1920. Like this one, the BH-5 was also a wooden low- wing aircraft with a thick wing profile. The wings were connected to the sides of the fuselage by two struts on each side. An Anzani radial engine served as the drive .
The first flight of the type took place in 1923. The BH-5 was flown by Zdeněk Lhota. It received the nickname "Boska" because of its aircraft registration L-BOSA . At an international sport aircraft competition in Belgium, Lhota caused quite a stir with the monoplane, which was unusual at the time . The success of the model established the two-seater successor series BH-9 , BH-11 and BH-12 , which were built in series and were used in both the civilian sector and the military.
