Axel Brummer (born November 25, 1961 in Mainz ) is a former German soccer player .

Brummer, who grew up in Partenheim in Rhineland-Hesse , started playing football at SG Partenheim , later switched to the youth team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 and then to 1. FC Kaiserslautern . There he made his debut as a 17-year-old on November 23, 1979 in professional football in the 3-1 home win of FCK against Werder Bremen . In five Bundesliga seasons at FCK Brummer made 73 appearances (34 substitutions) and 7 goals.

1981 Brummer was with the German U-20 junior world champion .

After his time in the Bundesliga, he moved to the 2nd division at Kickers Offenbach in 1984 , for which he played until 1991. After that he was active at the SV Wehen club , at RWO Alzey he played from 1993 to 1997, with whom he was promoted to the league at the end of his semi-professional career. From summer 1997 he came back to his hometown club SG Partenheim, where he was player-coach until 2003.

Axel Brummer made a total of 73 appearances in the Bundesliga and 66 games in the 2nd division .

Until 2011, Axel Brummer worked as a coach at FSV Saulheim in the Rheinhessen regional league. From June 2013 until his resignation at the beginning of 2014 he was a trainer at TuS 1848 eV Biebelnheim .
