Axel Fuchs (soccer player)

Axel Fuchs (born July 9, 1968 ) is a former German soccer player who played for FC Hansa Rostock in the GDR league in 1987/88 .

Athletic career

In 1978, Fuchs began playing organized football in the FC Hansa Rostock children's team. He went through all the youth teams and played from 1984 to 1986 with FC Hansa in the GDR-wide junior league. As in the 1986/87 season the first team of the Hanseatic League in the second-rate GDR leagueplayed, the 19-year-old Fuchs has already played as a substitute in three league games. After the Rostockers were promoted to the GDR league in 1987, Fuchs was accepted into the league squad in 1987/88, but was only used as a substitute once in a point game. The rest of the time he was a regular in the 2nd team that played in the GDR league. There he played 33 of the 34 point games played and came to a point game goal. For the season 1988/89 Fuchs was no longer in the Oberliga lineup, and since the 2nd team was relegated, he now had to play in the third-class Rostock district league .

In March 1989, Fuchs appeared at the GDR league club BSG KKW Greifswald . There he played eight point games until April, until he was replaced by the regular striker Peter Bartz, who was not ready for action. Only in the second half of the 1989/90 season did Fuchs return to the KKW team with 13 point matches. He was taken over in the summer of 1990 by the newly founded Greifswalder SC , for which he still played the 1990/91 season in the NOFV league . Fuchs then moved to the fourth-class Hamburg association league club SV Lurup , with whom he was promoted to the Oberliga Nord in the summer of 1992 . In the 2000/01 season, Fuchs appeared in the squad of the fourth-class north-eastern division club FC Anker Wismar .
