Axel Roeder

Axel Roeder (* 1941 in Berlin ) is a German forest scientist and was director of the Research Institute for Forest Ecology and Forestry (FAWF) in Trippstadt .

Life

Axel Roeder studied forestry in Göttingen and Freiburg , received his doctorate in Göttingen in 1970 and completed his habilitation in Freiburg in 1974. In 1970, after the state examination, he worked at the Hessian Forestry Institution. From 1971 to 1974 he was a research assistant at the Forest Biometry Department at the University of Freiburg. From 1974 to 1979 he was a. a. Assistant for business administration at the Hessian Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Forests, then from 1980 to 1986 head of the forestry office in Usingen . From 1986 he was first deputy director, then from 1987 until his retirement in 2006 director of the research institute for forest ecology and forestry of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. He is married with four children and lives in Trippstadt.

Axel Roeder has been actively involved in IUFRO for almost 30 years. From 1978 to 1986 he was deputy head of the IUFRO department “Statistical Methods, Mathematics and Computers” and from 1987 to 1990 deputy coordinator of the IUFRO department “General Subjects”. For the period from 1991 to 1995, Axel Roeder took over the coordination of the IUFRO department “Inventory, Growth, Yield and Operations Management and Biometrics”. Since 1996 he has been a member of the IUFRO International Council.

Since 2011 he has been a member of the advisory board of the Competence Center for Climate Change Impacts in Rhineland-Palatinate.
