Axel Schneider

Axel Schneider (* 9. December 1953 in Ahnatal -Heckershausen) is a German art and culture educator .

Live and act

Axel Schneider grew up in Ahnatal-Heckershausen in the Kassel district . His parents ran a gift shop there. In 1972 he passed his Abitur at the Albert Schweitzer School in Kassel. A traineeship at the Hessisch-Niedersächsische Allgemeine in Kassel and Göttingen followed . He completed his studies in empirical cultural and human sciences at the Georg-August University in Göttingen as a Magister Artium (MA).

In 1980 Schneider took over the management of the youth education department of the youth welfare office in the Kassel district. As a freelance speaker for youth and adult education, he developed theater seminars, writing workshops and projects for political and cultural education at the Dörnberg youth farm in Hesse. He was also the author and editor of publications for the Hessian State Center for Political Education . In addition, he produced features and radio plays for Deutschlandfunk , BR and NDR .

At the end of the 1980s he was active as a group supervisor and leader of German-German youth exchanges in the GDR and Poland. From 1990 to 1992 Axel Schneider worked on behalf of the German Educational Institutions Working Group. V. active as a federal tutor in the program "Development of independent organizations in the new federal states". From 1992 to 1999 he acted as managing director of the youth organization Saxony-Anhalt. From 1992 to 1999 he headed the Peseckendorf youth education center. He moved to Magdeburg in 1999.

From 2002 to 2018 he was the full-time managing director of the state association for cultural children and youth education in Saxony-Anhalt. V. and established it as a nationwide umbrella organization for cultural education for children and young people.

Until 2015, Schneider was on the board of the Federal Association for Cultural Education for Children and Young People (BKJ).
