Axel von Faltzburg

Axel von Faltzburg (* 1645 ; † September 18, 1728 in Halmstad ) was a Swedish infantry general and Landshövding .

Life

Axel von Faltzburg was a son of the Swedish State Secretary in Pomerania, who was ennobled in 1648, Johann von Faltzburg (1609–1681), and his second wife Anna Eleonora Hagemeister (1623–1660). From 1660 he attended the illustrious grammar school in Hall with his older brother Johann Philipp . In 1672 he became a royal court squire and later chamberlain. In 1676 he took part in the Battle of Lund and was then sent to Stockholm with the news of victory. There he was promoted to captain of the guard. In 1693 he was colonel of the Swedish body regiment "till fot". The following year he became the commandant in Malmö . In 1708 he was promoted to major general. In the same year he became Landshövding in Göteborgs län , 1709 in Älvsborgs län and 1710 in Hallands län .

On August 30, 1710, he and his younger brother Gustav were raised to the status of Swedish baron .

family

Axel von Faltzburg was married to Sophia Örnestedt († 1695), the daughter of the court chancellor Franziskus Örnestedt . With her he had five sons and five daughters. Four of the children died in their first year of life.
