Aydıntepe is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Bayburt in the Black Sea region . The district town has more than half of the district's population and is located approx. 17 km northwest of the provincial capital Bayburt . The district Aydintepe is located in the north of the province, bordering the provinces of Gumushane and Trabzon . It was created in 1987 and in addition to the district town has 23 villages ( Köy ), of which Çatıksu (428 inhabitants) is the largest.
