The Azamara Quest (formerly R Seven , Delphin Renaissance , Blue Moon ) is a cruise ship operated by Azamara Club Cruises, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises . She is one of eight almost identical R-class ships .

history

The ship was built in France ( Saint-Nazaire ) by the shipyard Chantiers de l'Atlantique for Renaissance Cruises. A year later, however, the ship had to be sold due to the insolvency of Renaissance Cruises and was acquired by a company based in the Marshall Islands .

2004 as Delphin Renaissance

In 2003 Delphin Seereisen chartered the ship for an initial five years, replacing the Delphin, which was used from 1993 to 2003 as the shipping company's flagship. During the time that the ship was underway as the Delphin Renaissance , it covered a distance that corresponds to six times orbits the earth. The tour operator gave the ship 4 stars plus.

The owner sold the ship to the Spanish shipping company Pullmantur Cruises at the end of 2005 . After the takeover of Pullmantur Cruises by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line , an extensive restructuring of the joint fleet followed. The Blue Moon and the identical sister ship Blue Dream were transferred to the new subsidiary Azamara Cruises (later renamed Azamara Club Cruises). After extensive renovation work at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg, the ship started sailing again as the Azamara Quest on October 9, 2007 and has been used for worldwide cruises ever since.

Incidents

After a fire in the engine room on March 30, 2012, the Azamara Quest was unable to maneuver off the coast of the Philippines on the Sulu Sea . On March 31, technicians managed to get the machines running again. The Azamara Quest was able to continue its journey to the port of the city of Sandakan on its own and at reduced speed .
