history

The R Five was built as the fifth of a total of eight R-Class ships under the shipyard number P31 at Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire and launched on July 31, 1999. On January 27, 2000, the takeover by Renaissance Cruises took place. On February 1, 2000, the ship completed its maiden voyage .

In October 2001 the R Five was arrested like all other ships of Renaissance Cruises after the shipping company had to file for bankruptcy in September. The ship hung up for several months before it was chartered by Pullmantur Cruises in June 2002 and used for cruises in the Mediterranean . The shipping company marketed the ship under the name Blue Dream , but was not officially renamed. In 2004 Pullmantur officially renamed the ship Nautica .

The Nautica has been operating for Oceania Cruises since December 2006 . Three of its eight sister ships ( Regatta , Insignia and Sirena ) are also in service for Oceania.
