Azis Sadikovic (* 1983 in Vienna ) is an Austrian conductor.

Life

Azis Sadikovic studied conducting with Georg Mark and violin with Werner Hink (concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic) at the Vienna Conservatory , where he graduated with honors in 2008 and made his debut with the Slovak Philharmonic . From 2007 to 2012 he was chief conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra Vienna. He founded his own orchestra, the Ensemble Wien Klang, is artistic director of the Wiener Waldhornverein and gives concerts regularly in Austria and other European countries.

He has already conducted the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Jyväskylä Sinfonia Finlandia, the Vaasa City Orchestra, the Filharmonia Slaska, the Philharmonia Jena, the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra, the Innviertel Symphony Orchestra and the Croatian Chamber Orchestra, the Zielonogórskiej Philharmonic, the Sinfonietta Baden, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Niš Symphony Orchestra, the Manhattan School of Music Symphony Orchestra and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Symphony Orchestra.

Azis Sadikovic has developed an extensive operatic repertoire, from Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice to Mozart's Don Giovanni and Beethoven's Fidelio to Wagner's Tannhäuser , among others at the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg, the Darmstadt State Theater and the Klagenfurt City Theater . In 2015 he assisted at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in Die Bassariden by Hans Werner Henze. In Vienna he most recently conducted the new production of Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos with a prominent cast at Palais Schönburg in 2013 and the premiere of Tibor Polgár's Das Budapest Verhör in 2011 at the Theater am Nestroyhof.

Azis Sadikovic has worked with numerous members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic (e.g. Daniel Ottensamer , Andreas Ottensamer , Róbert Nagy , Raphael Flieder, Daniel Froschauer , Michael Werba , Tibor Kováč, Paul Halwax, Guillaume Jehl). As soloists with him a. a. Julian Rachlin, Natalia Ushakova, Florian Boesch, Mojca Erdmann and Tomasz Konieczny. The performance of contemporary works plays an important role for him. Azis Sadikovic performed at the Voix Nouvelles Festival in Royaumont / France and performed with the Ensemble Linea / Strasbourg and the Namascae Lemanic Modern Ensemble / Switzerland.

Awards

In 2012, Azis Sadikovic won 3rd prize at the 9th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors in Katowice / Poland.

In May 2013 Azis Sadikovic won the 1st prize of the Jovens Maestros 2013 Cuncurso in Lisbon.
